{"id":8579,"date":"2023-12-15T17:39:48","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T17:39:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.typeandforme.com\/?p=8579"},"modified":"2023-12-15T17:44:18","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T17:44:18","slug":"bess-of-hardwicks-correspondence-a-pre-history-of-tf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.typeandforme.com\/index.php\/2023\/12\/15\/bess-of-hardwicks-correspondence-a-pre-history-of-tf\/","title":{"rendered":"Bess of Hardwick&#8217;s Correspondence (A Pre-History of T&#038;F)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">The correspondence of Bess of Hardwick (c.1521\/2 or 1527-1608) &#8211; the early modern dynast, matriarch, and builder of Hardwick Hall, among other things &#8211; was one of the most fascinating groups of objects Dr Anke Timmermann worked on prior to becoming an antiquarian bookseller and co-founding Type &amp; Forme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">While editing letters to and from Bess for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bessofhardwick.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bessofhardwick.org\">he digital edition at Glasgow University<\/a>,* Anke had a chance to develop an exhibition inspired by Bess&#8217; correspondence.
