First edition. McEwan’s widely-acclaimed novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize for Fiction and the Whitbread Novel Award, and won the W.H. Smith Literary Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for fiction. It was adapted for the screen by Christopher Hampton, and the film, starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, was released in 2007, winning one Oscar and earning a further six nominations.
