This issue of Journal of the Printing Historical Society focuses on the Stationers’ Company, and contains articles by Robin Myers (‘Introduction: Searching the Stationers’ Company Records for Printing History’), Sheila Lambert (‘Journeymen and Master Printers in the Early Seventeenth Century’), Michael Treadwell (‘Printers in the Court of the Stationers’ Company in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Centuries’), C.Y. Ferdinand (‘Towards a Demography of the Stationers’ Company 1601-1700’), and Gerald D. Johnson (‘Succeeding as an Elizabethan Publisher: The Example of Cuthbert Burby’).
Loosely inserted is a copy of ‘First Announcement. Bain & Williams Ltd Directors: Iain Bain & Graham Williams. Publications 1993’, a trifold, 6-page prospectus printed by Smith Settle in green and black on one sheet of cream paper (240 x 150mm).
This copy of Journal of the Printing Historical Society is from the library of the late David and Diana Wilson; David Wilson was a printer, collector of private press publications, and friend and collaborator of Graham Williams, co-director of Bain & Williams Ltd (Iain Bain was Vice-President of the Printing Historical Society).
